Read all about it…Rehearsals of “Becky Shaw” by Gina Gionfriddo At freeFall Theatre

Welcome to our rehearsals of Becky Shaw at freefall Theatre. I am thrilled you have decided to visit this site!  My name is Gaye Burgess and I am an Acting Professor on sabbatical this year. Right now I am in St. Pete’s, Florida spending time observing freeFall Theatre’s rehearsals for their up and coming production of Becky Shaw by Gina Gionfriddo, directed by Larry Silverberg.  Larry has brought together a stellar cast of actors who I have had the great honor of getting to know this past week.  What a wonderful group of artists!

In this blog you will find day-by-day posts of what is happening in rehearsals, as director and cast work towards opening night. My posts simply share my experience.  I hope they resonate with you as well.  Whether you are a theatre buff, a freeFall subscriber, a student, a colleague, a friend, or a friend of a friend, I invite you to join me on my journey.  If you are an avid follower and friend of Larry and the Meisner Technique, you will love the behind the scene looks into this remarkable master teacher’s process.  To my wonderful students back in North Dakota, I hope you are having a fantastic semester.  I can’t wait to share this experience with you.  And, last but not least, to my dear friends who shared the wonderful summer of 2011 with me  in Salem, Oregon (The True Acting Institute’s Meisner Certification Program)… this is really for you.  I miss you.  I wish you were here.  And I can’t wait to see you all again in July!

The production opens in little over a week, February 3rd to be exact, and runs until February 19th,  so we are in the thick of rehearsals as I speak.  Please spread the news…forward our link to your friends. Believe me, this show is not to be missed.

Some Background information…

  1. So wonderful to read all about your process. I’m a good friend of Natalie and worked with Larry years ago here in Seattle. Tell the gang hello from me. And good luck opening night!
